Delhi CM Rekha Gupta calls Union Budget 2026–27 significant for urban development, flags focus on infrastructure and jobs

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has described the Union Budget for the financial year 2026–27 as important from the perspective of urban development, saying its provisions could influence infrastructure, employment, and public services in the national capital. Speaking about the budget’s potential implications, Gupta said sectors linked to connectivity, jobs, and civic amenities may see changes in the coming months. She noted that the allocation of funds for transport and large-scale infrastructure projects could shape how cities like Delhi grow and function.

Among the key highlights, the Chief Minister pointed to the emphasis on transport and connectivity initiatives. Projects such as the proposed Delhi–Varanasi high-speed rail corridor are expected to reduce travel time between major cities and could have wider economic implications. Experts say such corridors may support trade, tourism, and investment, though they also underline the importance of close monitoring of project timelines and costs.
