The Uttar Pradesh government has accelerated the acquisition of 23,590 acres of land for the expansion of the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA) region. The move is being seen as a major step towards the state government's goal of balanced and inclusive development under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

56,662 acres approved for industrial development

Along with speeding up land acquisition, the state government has formally approved a total of 56,662 acres for industrial development under BIDA. Officials say this decision will help lay the foundation for large-scale economic and social transformation in the Bundelkhand region, which has remained underdeveloped for years.

Focus on manufacturing, defence and logistics

The government aims to transform Bundelkhand from a raw resource-based region into a strong centre for manufacturing, logistics and industrial production. The BIDA region is being planned as an integrated industrial zone for heavy industries, defence manufacturing, MSMEs, logistics and ancillary units. Core infrastructure such as roads, power supply, water facilities, warehousing and connectivity is being prioritised to improve ease of doing business.

BEML proposes Rs 600 crore investment

State-owned Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has proposed an investment of around Rs 600 crore in the BIDA region. The project will include manufacturing units for heavy machinery, defence equipment and industrial products. According to government estimates, this investment is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, providing employment opportunities for local youth and reducing migration.

100-acre multi-modal logistics park planned

To support industrial growth, a multi-modal logistics park will be developed on 100 acres of land by Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR). The park will integrate road and rail connectivity, helping industries move goods more efficiently, reduce logistics costs and strengthen supply chains, including exports.

Boost for MSMEs and local entrepreneurs

The industrial expansion under BIDA will also focus on MSMEs, startups and ancillary industries. The government plans to integrate local businesses into the industrial ecosystem, creating sustainable economic opportunities across Bundelkhand.

Towards a self-reliant bundelkhand

Officials believe the BIDA project will create large-scale employment and accelerate economic activity in the region. The initiative is expected to help develop Bundelkhand as a model of self-reliant Uttar Pradesh while addressing long-standing regional imbalances through inclusive growth.
