Jake Paul sparked backlash after responding to Billie Eilish’s political speech at the 2026 Grammys with comments defending ICE and mocking her “stolen land” remark. While Paul was widely trolled online, Eilish’s speech itself has also ignited a debate, with Finneas stepping in to defend his sister amid intense criticism.

Jake Paul has entered the conversation surrounding Billie Eilish’s political remarks at the 2026 Grammys. The YouTuber-turned-boxer shared a message defending law enforcement, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement, while appearing to shade Eilish’s Grammy speech. He also made remarks questioning her statement on “stolen land,” alluding to recent claims that her mansion is built on land taken from Indigenous communities.

What did Billie Eilish actually say at the 2026 Grammys?

At the 2026 Grammy Awards, Billie Eilish used her acceptance speech for Song of the Year to make a strong political statement. Standing beside her brother Finneas, both wearing “ICE Out” pins, she declared, “No one is illegal on stolen land,” before ending her remarks with a defiant “f--- ICE.” Her passionate speech was delivered within a broader context of artist activism at the show, with several performers railing against U.S. immigration enforcement and urging listeners to keep fighting for justice.

What Jake Paul tweeted

Paul’s X post read, “If you don’t like ICE, then you can’t call 911 when you’re in trouble. If you don’t respect law enforcement agents, then you shouldn’t depend on them. When Billie Eilish gets her home broken into, it’s not going to be ICE, I can promise you that," he added. He further mentioned, "Wait, technically she can’t get broken into because she stole the land lolololololol."

Paul gets trolled instead by users on X

Rather than landing widely with fans, Paul’s post was quickly slammed by users. Many users turned the joke around, trolling Paul for airing controversial political views in the first place and pointing out inconsistencies in his own public persona.

One user wrote, "Hey dummy, local law enforcement and ICE are two different things. We don’t expect idiots like you to know the difference." "You sound stupid. Just because she said you can’t be illegal on stolen land doesn’t mean you can go around robbing and hurting people. Man, you’re f***ing stupid and useless," added another user.

Some fans also claimed that he stole the Billie 'joke' from one of his followers.

Billie Eilish facing backlash over ‘stolen land’ comments

While Logan Paul himself is a polarising figure, Billie's 'no one's illegal on stolen land' comment has sparked a wider controversy. Her phrase drew particular attention because her reported multimillion-dollar Los Angeles home sits on land historically associated with the Tongva tribe. The tribe itself acknowledged that the property lies on its ancestral territory and encouraged more precise referencing of Indigenous history when making such statements.

Finneas slams trolls for targetting his sister

Amid the backlash, Finneas O’Connell stepped in to defend his sister. He called out high-profile critics on social platforms, accusing some of being motivated by resentment and hypocrisy rather than genuine concern. In a forceful post, Finneas wrote that many of those railing against Billie’s speech were “powerful old white men” whose outrage was revealing more about their own priorities than the substance of her message.

Finneas, too, has been outspoken alongside his sister when it comes to criticising ICE and the Trump administration. Just days ago, he claimed that videos in which he called out ICE were being suppressed online, saying they were shown to none of his followers and pulling in zero views.

Meanwhile, Billie has not reacted to the online trolling following her Grammys speech.
