In Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh, 'Janta Darshan' has emerged as more than just a public grievance forum. Inspired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's welfare-focused governance, the initiative is now helping poor and seriously ill residents get immediate access to healthcare and government schemes.

Held daily from 10 am to 12 noon at the Rampur Collectorate, 'Janta Darshan' is providing on-the-spot solutions to people struggling with poverty, illness and exclusion from welfare lists.

Health check-ups and documents verified at one place

Under the initiative led by District Magistrate Ajay Kumar Dwivedi, senior doctors from the district hospital are present during 'Janta Darshan' to conduct health check-ups of complainants. Along with medical examinations, officials verify documents at the District Magistrate's office itself. Based on eligibility, beneficiaries are issued Ayushman Bharat health cards, Antyodaya ration cards and access to other government schemes without delay.

Ayushman and Antyodaya cards issued within days

According to the district administration, eligible applicants are receiving Antyodaya and Ayushman cards within seven days. In several cases, the process has been completed in just three to four days. In the last three months alone, 90 Antyodaya ration cards and 147 Ayushman cards have been issued through this initiative.

Support for families excluded from SECC list

Many families in Rampur were earlier excluded from welfare benefits because their names were not included in the 2011 Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) list. Through 'Janta Darshan', such cases are now being verified as per rules allowing eligible families to finally receive benefits. DM Ajay Kumar Dwivedi said the aim is to ensure that government schemes reach people who genuinely need them, and are not limited to paperwork or statistics.

Immediate treatment for serious illnesses

Several beneficiaries visiting 'Janta Darshan' were suffering from serious illnesses such as cancer, kidney disease and heart conditions. With on-the-spot medical assessments and fast issuance of Ayushman cards, hospital admissions and treatment have started without delay. In many cases, Ayushman cards were issued the same day, enabling immediate medical care.

Beneficiaries share their experience

Mohammad Chamman, a grievant, said he had no money for treatment and came to 'Janta Darshan' as a last hope. "I received both an Antyodaya card and an Ayushman card. My treatment is ongoing now, and my family has finally found relief," he said. Reshma Parveen shared that she never expected help so quickly. "The support from the district administration has restored our faith. We feel truly supported," she said. Mahendra Singh added that the welfare schemes under CM Yogi Adityanath's leadership have given his family financial and emotional strength.

A model of welfare-centred governance

The Rampur 'Janta Darshan' initiative is being seen as a ground-level example of the Yogi government's focus on poor welfare. By combining administrative sensitivity with fast decision-making, the district administration has ensured that healthcare, food security, and dignity reach the last person in society.
