Valorant star TenZ (Tyson Ngo) and streamer Kyedae’s breakup has been a hard pill to swallow for esports fans who followed their relationship for years. The Valorant streaming power couple announced their split on February 8, bringing an end to a six-year relationship and a three-year engagement that many believed would last forever. While both explained that they had simply stopped growing together, the internet quickly began speculating about cheating. Now, TenZ has broken his silence to shut down the rumours and set the record straight.

Kyedae's statement reveals the reason behind the breakup

Kyedae publicly shared a statement on social media explaining that they had actually “been broken up for quite some time now,” and that the decision came as both realised they had “stopped growing as individuals” after spending nearly their entire adult lives together.

She detailed how their lives had been nearly inseparable, from moving in together shortly after meeting to sharing hobbies, routines, and streaming careers, and how that closeness eventually made it hard for them to grow independently. She wrote that after doing “everything together”, it became clear they needed space to develop into their own people. Both Kyedae and TenZ asked for privacy and understanding from their fans amid the transition.

Kyedae said the breakup was mutual and long in the making, explaining that after growing up side by side, both she and TenZ needed space to grow as individuals.

The statement made it clear there was “no wrongdoing, no resentment, and no single event” that caused the breakup and that the parting was mutual and respectful.

Cheating rumours go viral

Despite the clear explanation, rumours of infidelity began swirling almost immediately online. Some fans pointed to Reddit posts suggesting that signs of trouble had appeared as early as December 2025, when users noticed changes in their social media behaviour, like deleted posts and changes to their Instagram feeds, and speculated they had split before the public announcement.

Other online chatter claimed Kyedae was seen spending time with John Choi, the ex-boyfriend of streamer Daphne Wai, and that Daph allegedly unfollowed her soon after. The timing led some fans to speculate that the meetup may not have been as casual as it appeared, further fuelling cheating rumours online.

TenZ shuts down claims

TenZ addressed the backlash head-on after cheating rumours began flooding social media, firmly shutting down the speculation. In a strongly worded post on X, he criticised what he called “weird posts” and false narratives being pushed about his breakup with Kyedae, saying they were creating unnecessary hate. He emphasised that their split was completely mutual and that they still care deeply about one another, while urging fans to stop dragging Kyedae into baseless drama.

“Okay, this is genuinely disgusting that people are still spitting out bullshit onto the timeline,” TenZ wrote. “There's some stuff I need to clear up because people are throwing around blind hate to push a narrative that doesn't exist. John is a friend of both mine and Kyedae's. Just because they hung out on a trip I was supposed to be on but had to cancel last minute, with one of my best friends from high school also there and conveniently cropped out of the photo, people are pushing this insane cheating story. That’s wild.”

He went on to add that fans should stop projecting their own insecurities onto a relationship they know nothing about and also shut down another rumour entirely, saying he never donated bone marrow to Kyedae. TenZ ended by admitting it takes a lot to get him this emotionally charged, making it clear just how frustrating the ongoing speculation has been for him.

About their relationship

TenZ and Kyedae were one of the most beloved couples in the gaming and esports world, with a romance that began when they were just teenagers. The pair met in 2019 while still in high school and quickly became inseparable, moving in together just weeks after they started dating. Over the next six years they shared nearly every part of their lives, from playing Valorant together to building huge followings on social media, with TenZ becoming one of the biggest names in competitive Valorant and Kyedae rising as a top streamer.

The couple got engaged in August 2022, a moment many fans celebrated as a “forever” moment for the duo. Despite the engagement and years spent side-by-side, they eventually realised they had stopped growing as individuals, which led to their decision to go their separate ways.
