Cardi B and NFL star Stefon Diggs are suddenly at the center of fresh breakup talk just hours after Super Bowl LX. Rumours kicked off when fans noticed social media clues and odd behaviour over Super Bowl weekend, and a new report even cited a source claiming the pair had already split before the big game.

Amid the online speculation, a screenshot allegedly showing the new parents trading nasty insults in an Instagram comments section has also gone viral. So what’s really going on? We’re breaking it all down for you.

Social media unfollow sets off the rumours

Unfollow drama is now one of the biggest sparks behind the Cardi B and Stefon Diggs, who welcomed their baby boy in November last year, breakup chatter. In the hours after the New England Patriots’ loss in Super Bowl LVI, fans noticed Cardi B and Stefon Diggs had unfollowed each other, something neither had done before while publicly together. That mutual unfollow right after the game instantly ignited speculation that things might be far from smooth between the rapper and the NFL star.

The timing didn’t help calm anyone down either. The WAP rapper had been a vocal presence throughout Diggs’ playoff run all season, showing up at games and posting support, but after the Super Bowl loss, she didn’t just unfollow him; she also seemed to leave the stadium early and kept things very low-key on her own feed. Social media users pointed out that the pair had been following each other before the game and that the sudden unfollow was a breaking point that sent fans down a rabbit hole of theories.

An insider says the breakup happened before the Super Bowl

According to a source cited by Entertainment Tonight, the split between Cardi B and Stefon Diggs may not have been a Super Bowl aftermath thing at all. It reportedly happened before the big game even kicked off. As the report puts it, “the breakup occurred shortly before the Super Bowl,” which could explain why Cardi’s pre-game support for Diggs seemed vanilla when asked about him on the red carpet. Fans noticed she kept her message brief (simply wishing him “Good luck”).

Baby Mama buzz fuels internet theory

There have been some spicy fan theories online suggesting that front-row tickets for one of Stefon Diggs’ other baby mamas somehow triggered tension between him and Cardi B around Super Bowl weekend and that the rapper may have found out about it, which forced her early exit. There are also rumours that the rapper had planned an afterparty for the NFL star, but both were absent from the event amid the breakup chatter.

Are Cardi B and Stefon Diggs already throwing insults at each other?

As breakup rumours continue to spark chatter on X, a viral screenshot poured fuel on the fire. The image claimed to show Cardi B commenting, “You’re a disgrace to the game,” on Stefon Diggs’ latest post, with Diggs firing back, “You’re a disgrace to music.” The exchange spread fast, with fans taking it as proof the couple was publicly imploding.

However, the screenshot is fake. In reality, that interaction never happened. The original comment from Cardi’s verified account simply read “Eight”, followed by several emojis, including a red heart, while Diggs replied, “Yk what type of time I’m on.” No insults, no public dragging, just another case of the internet running wild and turning a harmless comment into full-blown breakup bait.

The screenshot might be fake, but the unfollow is real, and fans are wondering if it's truly over for the new parents.
