Nepal's Dipendra Singh Airee Joins Elite Club: Hits Six Sixes In Men's T20Is

Nepal's cricket sensation, Dipendra Singh Airee, etched his name in the annals of cricket history by becoming only the third player to smash six sixes in an over in men's T20 Internationals (T20Is). Airee achieved this remarkable feat during the ACC Men's T20I Premier Cup clash against Qatar at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground.

Facing medium pacer Kamran Khan, Airee unleashed a barrage of six sixes in the final over of Nepal's innings. This incredible display of power-hitting transformed his score from 28 off 15 balls to a thunderous 64 off 21 deliveries, propelling Nepal to a formidable total of 210/7.


Joining the likes of Yuvraj Singh and Kieron Pollard, Airee's achievement underscores his prowess as a dynamic batsman. Yuvraj had first accomplished this feat during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2007, while Pollard replicated it in 2021 against Akila Dananjaya.

Notably, Airee had previously showcased his six-hitting ability by smashing six consecutive sixes in an Asian Games match against Mongolia last year. However, that remarkable performance spanned two overs as he went on to set the record for the fastest fifty in T20Is in just nine balls.


Airee's meteoric rise in cricket began with his standout performances in the 2016 ICC Men's U19 Cricket World Cup. Since then, he has been a vital asset to the senior national team, earning recognition at the young age of 17.

His stellar form bodes well for Nepal as they prepare for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. Set to compete in Group D alongside formidable opponents like South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands, Airee's explosive batting adds an extra dimension to Nepal's challenge in the tournament scheduled to be held in the West Indies and USA from June 1-29.
