UP Government Makes Cow Conservation Film Godaan Tax-Free
The Uttar Pradesh government has granted tax-free status to the film Godaan, which focuses on cow conservation and its relevance in Indian society. Produced and directed by Vinod Chaudhary, the film was released nationwide on Friday. The decision, taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, highlights the state’s approach of using creative platforms to spread awareness on socially important issues.

By removing entertainment tax, the government aims to ensure that the film reaches a wider audience, encouraging citizens to understand the cultural, economic, and environmental importance of cow protection.

Lower Ticket Prices to Encourage Public Participation

With the tax exemption in place, movie ticket prices in Uttar Pradesh are expected to reduce, making the film more accessible to viewers from all sections of society. This move is intended to increase footfall in cinemas and allow more people to engage with the message of cow conservation.

Soon after assuming office, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath initiated strict action against cow smuggling and illegal slaughter. Law enforcement agencies were directed to take firm measures, reinforcing the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward crimes related to cow protection.

Strong Government Commitment to Cow Protection

The state government’s dedication to cow welfare is reflected in sustained administrative efforts over the past several years. Thousands of cow shelters have been established across Uttar Pradesh, providing protection and care to abandoned and rescued cattle. Dedicated cow protection committees have been formed in every district, with senior administrative and police officials appointed as nodal officers to ensure effective implementation of welfare measures.

These initiatives underline the government’s belief that cow protection is not only a cultural responsibility but also a key aspect of rural sustainability and social harmony.

Film Rooted in Cultural and Scientific Perspective

Godaan presents cow conservation through a balanced lens, combining cultural values with scientific understanding. The film highlights the religious significance of the cow, its role in rural livelihoods, and the scientific relevance of Panchgavya-based practices. With a runtime of nearly two hours, it aims to educate viewers while fostering respect for traditional knowledge systems rooted in Indian civilization.

By supporting the film, the Uttar Pradesh government has reinforced its message that social change can be effectively driven through meaningful storytelling
